New instalments of the Broken Crown series are out now!
I have been writing on and off since the age of seven. I wanted to become an author when I was thirteen, after writing a short fantasy story called 'The Golden Blood'. I began writing 'The Erosion of Erosil' when I was fourteen, and published it when I was fifteen.
My favourite book genres as a child were fantasy and sci fi, and I have always created new worlds whenever I have gotten bored. My parents and teachers encouraged me to keep writing, and I have never needed much inspiration to stay in the world of Erosil.
Wilhelm Morhall-Ansleet has been my favourite since I wrote 'The Burnt Throne', being one of the more complex of my characters. He started out as an evil secondary character, but over time his backstory and personality have evolved. He is perhaps my best example of a morally grey character.
When I was fourteen, I came up with an idea about two brothers who ruled as kings over a continent filled with magical creatures, set in a Sword and Sorcery medieval world. During the process of writing the story, it changed continuously, until it finally took the form of Erosil in 'The Burnt Throne'.
'The Golden Sceptre', the third novel in the 'Broken Crown' series, has taken me a little over nine months to reach its current state. It will be the final part of the trilogy, following 'The Dragonscale Tome' and 'The Burnt Throne'.
I am a history student, and some of my inspiration comes from the medieval history that I specialise in. A lot of my other inspiration comes from other fantasy worlds such as 'The Elder Scrolls' and 'A Song of Ice and Fire'. I don't really do much research: it's all in my head!
I am currently trying to develop a new world for a new series to follow the 'Broken Crown' series. However, I have suffered from writer's block every day since I made that decision.
The Kingfountain series by Jeff Wheeler has been a favourite of mine for years. The Thief's Daughter is my favourite, as it is well-written and has an intriguing plot and characters.
A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin, the third book in the Song of Ice and Fire series. It's very long!
Awesome Egyptians from the Horrible Histories series, because it was the inspiration for my love of history.
You have to love your writing. Whilst there are no guarantees your writing will be found quickly, any love and attention you give your work will be easily seen by your readers.
I am currently a Third Year History student, looking to do a masters degree next year.
I love writing, but I hate editing and formatting my books.
I've always wanted to be a cat, so I could sleep all the time and be waited on for free. What a life!
